So there was this one day—I was right in the middle of a work shift, fully focused, and then boom—my aircon just stops cooling. The LED lights were still on, but no cold air at all. And it was showing “P4” on the display.
I had no clue what that meant, so here’s what I did.
First, I turned off the breaker and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. Then I turned it back on, tried a few power cycles… still nothing. No cooling. Still P4.
That’s when I decided to call the technicians from a local company to check what’s going on. Turns out, my split-type aircon needed a serious cleaning and the freon needed charging too.
They brought in a pressure washer and gave the unit a deep clean—indoor and outdoor parts. After that, they checked the freon pressure and showed me the optimal reading it should have when it’s properly charged. Mine was way off.
While doing all that, they also noticed that one of the bolts on the compressor was broken, and the existing tube or wire was too short, which they said shouldn’t be the case. So they replaced it with a longer one.
After all those fixes—cleaning, freon charge, replacing the broken parts—my aircon was back to normal. Cooling like it should.
Lesson here: if your aircon suddenly stops cooling and shows a P4 error, don’t panic. It might just need a proper cleaning and freon refill. But get someone who knows what they’re doing—especially for split-type units.
